⛴️ Fleet Week Is Here. So Is the Heat.

🌡️ Happy Tuesday! Quick heads up before anything else: a Heat Advisory is in effect through tomorrow night, with highs pushing into the high 80s and low 90s in spots. If you've got kids, pets, or elderly neighbors, now's a good time to check in and make sure everyone's got a cool place to be.

⚽ The World Cup is finally a wrap (anyone catch that England-France third-place match? 6-4, most goals in a World Cup game since 1982 — an absolute mess in the best way), so it's back to our regularly scheduled programming. For those die hard fans, it will be another 338 days until the next Women’s World Cup and 1,418 days until the next Men’s World Cup.

🏈 Speaking of programming: did you know the Seahawks are getting the Hard Knocks treatment this summer? Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Seattle Seahawks premieres Tuesday, August 11 at 9pm on HBO — the first time the series has ever followed a defending Super Bowl champion.

🛝 And closer to home: Seattle Parks is celebrating the finished renovation of the View Ridge Playfield play area tomorrow, Wednesday, with music and popsicles from 4–6pm. New climbing structures, a saucer swing, an accessible path — all done. Mark it if you're free tomorrow afternoon.

🎨 Also around the neighborhood: a colorful new bike mural just went up outside (mend)bicycles on NE 75th — worth a detour next time you're by there. 🌮 Also worth knowing: the El Camion Sand Point truck that had been parked at 4529 Sand Point Way NE has moved to 3803 NE 45th St — same truck, same number, just a different location.

⛴️ Seafair Fleet Week Ship Tours — Wednesday–Thursday, July 22–23 (Pier 62, Seattle Waterfront)
Fleet Week kicks off today with the Parade of Ships sailing into Elliott Bay, and the Navy and Coast Guard vessels stick around for free public tours Wednesday and Thursday. Bring your real ID (required to board) and closed-toe shoes — no exceptions, even for kids. It's the kind of free, only-in-Seattle thing worth the trip downtown if you've never done it. → Details

🛝 View Ridge Playfield Play Area Celebration — Wednesday, July 22, 4–6pm (View Ridge Playfield, 4408 NE 70th St)
Seattle Parks and Recreation is marking the finished renovation of the View Ridge play area with an afternoon of music and popsicles. New climbing structures, a saucer swing, and an accessible path all went in as part of the same construction package that also redid Ward Springs and the Bryant Neighborhood Playground. 🥬 U Village Farmers Market — Saturday, July 25, 10am–2pm (Village Green, 2623 NE University Village St)
U Village's own farmers market is back on the Village Green with produce and artisanal goods — Collin's Family Orchards, Bow Hill Blueberries, and Eva's Wild Salmon among the vendors, plus Frankie & Jo's parked on the lawn for ice cream. A good excuse to make a morning of it if you're already headed that way.

🎨 Urban Craft Uprising Summer Show — Saturday & Sunday, July 25–26, 11am–5pm (Magnuson Park Hangar 30, 6310 NE 74th St)
The Pacific Northwest's largest indie craft show returns to Magnuson with 130+ independent makers — jewelry, ceramics, clothing, candles, the works — plus food trucks parked in the North Lot. Free to attend, all ages, and an easy one for a lazy weekend wander. → Details

🏷️ Wedgwood FREE Yard Sale Day — Saturday, July 25, 10am

The whole neighborhood sets out free stuff — driveways, front yards, along the road — and you just walk around and take what you want. No transactions, no haggling, no "make me an offer." 🚦 Roosevelt Way NE Roundabout

Seattle's very first arterial roundabout is officially open at Roosevelt Way NE & NE 125th St in Pinehurst — part of prep work for the new NE 130th St light rail station opening later this year. If you haven't driven through one of these before, SDOT's got a rundown on how it works. → Details

Opening soon in U Village's former Allbirds spot, which went vacant after Allbirds closed its U.S. full-price stores earlier this year. Worth a peek next time you're up there if you're into the brand's denim and tailored basics.

No Karen's Pick this week — instead, I'm spotlighting a spot I've gotten a lot of unsolicited feedback about lately. Several of you have written in about NOLA, the Indian spot in Wedgwood, and the word is consistently good. What sets it apart: it's reportedly the first in the area to bring traditional Bengali food — Kolkata-style flavors — alongside the usual North Indian menu. It's take-out only, but they also do full catering for weddings and parties if you're planning ahead. I haven't made it in myself yet, but with this many of you saying the same thing, it felt worth passing along.
