Sports Bars just in time for March Madness! 🏀

Spotted a Reddit thread this morning — someone asked about great bars for March Madness, and the recommendations were too good not to share. And I’ve been to all of them. Perfect spots for gathering friends and catching a big game!

My personal neighborhood favorite is Project 9 Brewing (1409 NE 80th Street) - it’s a fun spot for both adults and families and has a great food truck too! Technically it’s in Lake City Way but a close walk for many folks living in Wedgwood (and also Maple Leaf).

Other spots to hit:

Westy Roosevelt (1215 NE 65th Street) - is a solid neighborhood pick — better food than your typical sports bar and a good viewing setup, without having to leave the neighborhood! Stumbling distance for many folks in Ravenna.

Pub at Third Place & Cafe Arta (6504 20th Ave NE) - Cozy neighborhood pub tucked inside Third Place Books Ravenna — board games, local beers, and a bookshop vibe that makes it feel like your smartest friend's living room. Not a hard core sports bar but a viable option if you like a quieter spot.

Die Bierstube (6106 Roosevelt Way) - A raucous German tavern with 14 beers on tap, bratwurst, and TVs showing the game. Great if you love that German vibe!

Duchess Tavern (2827 NE 55th Street) - a college/sports-themed dive bar with beer, sports on TV, kitschy decor, and bar food. Pool tables, TV screens, and a full bar make it a go-to for catching the big game. Very much a Huskies bar — they sound a siren after every Husky score. Dogs welcome too.

32 Bar and Grill at Kraken Iceplex (10601 5th Ave NE) - Technically in Northgate, but if like to see the ice and love a bigger sports bar feel, this is a great spot. It’s a slightly more upscale with a bigger menu in my opinion - plus parking is super easy.

Go Huskies! 🐾
